Can A Woman Married For 3 Weeks Collect Life Insurance?
My reader who lives in Armarillo, Texas e-mailed me asking “if you have only been married for 3 weeks can you collect the life insurance benefits from your husbands insurance policy, if he passed away?”
Answer to Readers Question: The answer is not as simple as you think.
If you are legally married and your husband dies say of a heart attack suddenly within 3 seconds or 3 weeks of your marriage, you can collect the life insurance benefits if the will was made previous to your getting married or a few days after your marriage. If no will was made prior to the marriage or after the marriage then your best bet is to consult and hire an attorney to cut through the red tape.
